Back to top ▲GaN chargers use a more efficient semiconductor material, which allows high power in smaller enclosures and with less heat released. Basically, you can have 65W or 100W in a compact adaptor, ideal for multiple devices simultaneously.
Qi2 is a universal standard for magnetic wireless charging, adopted by several manufacturers (including Apple and Samsung), while MagSafe is Apple's ecosystem of magnetic iPhone accessories. The magnetic principle is similar, but MagSafe remains specific to compatible iPhones.
Even if the adapter supports PD / PPS, the effective speed also depends on the cable. A cheap or uncertified cable can limit current, reduce speed or cause interruptions. Quality Type-C cables are essential for stable fast charging.
Modern phones intelligently manage charging and control current according to battery temperature and level. By using compliant chargers and quality cables, fast charging does not abnormally damage the battery - the device limits the speed when needed.
In general, 20-30W is sufficient for a modern smartphone. If you want a single adaptor for phone + tablet/laptop, it's more efficient to choose a 45-65W GaN with multiple USB-C ports, and for large laptops you can go up to 100W.
